Success Farm Nigeria
The challenge in our development cooperation is to invest donations in the project in such a way that the concept is self-sustaining. We have therefore decided to buy a piece of land that can be sustainably maintained by the local population through agriculture and livestock farming based on the principle of sowing and harvesting.
In the south-western Nigerian state of Edo, the Christian Omonowan community has set up the Success Farm. Livestock farming is the main focus here. We have built stables that offer the cows, sheep, goats and chickens protection from the strong sunlight. The rest of the land was used to grow maize, cassava and cashew nuts. Inflation is also very high in Nigeria and hunger and poverty in particular have become a security problem here. This is why we had to build a high wall after the farm was completed to protect it from break-ins and theft. Thanks to the support of patrols by the local police, we are optimistic that the proceeds can be used profitably to maintain the farm.
The stables and farm land are made available to individuals and families so that they can secure their investment in animals either for their own use or for sale. The challenge with this community project is that everyone pulls together and continues to work and invest together to move the farm project forward. In the long term, the aim is to create a motivated and efficient farm that can be copied and pasted as a pioneering project.
Appreciation and values with fun, games and music for kids
Spending active and quality time with children not only inspires the children, but also our volunteers. We want to excite children of nursery and primary school age with creative handicraft, painting and music projects. We emphasise the fun factor when teaching values.
The motto of our children's projects is: You are valuable, you are unique and you are loved. With various weekend projects, we bring rules and beliefs into dialogue and put them to the creative test in innovative projects. Our aim is for our next generation to develop fair mindsets from an early age to give them a lot of wisdom for life.
Our children's events always bring people of different nationalities and cultures together with a lot of fun and appreciation. We are committed to breaking down racism and prejudice and building bridges between nations and cultures.
Charitable Food Programme in Togo
By promoting development cooperation, we have been able to experience long-term friendships between nations and people. Our missions focus on securing the survival of families and the socially disadvantaged. We want to create economic structures and secure livelihoods.
In French-speaking Togo, around 600 km away from the Nigerian farm project, we have also implemented an agricultural project ‘PAC Programme Alimentaire Charitable - Nourriture pour l'Arche’ with the Christian EL Shaddai community. A large piece of land is cultivated with rice, maize, manioc and beans and there are now also some cattle on the farm. The ability of the community, with many financially weak members, to feed itself from the farm's produce has unleashed a great deal of gratitude, a new unity and a lot of new motivation. The community was also able to raise money for the construction of a meeting tent from the proceeds of the farm. The 300-people community can now look forward to a roofed wooden structure in which village meetings and church services can be held.
‘We are very happy because the community now has a secure food supply and can concentrate on other projects to develop the village community. The next wish would be to purchase agricultural machinery, which would make it easier to cultivate the land in the high temperatures,’ explains the Togolese project manager Kokouvi on site. ‘On public holidays, we visit the elderly and needy in the neighbourhood and distribute a bag of rice and other food. It's hard to imagine what this kind of care means for the destitute people in the countryside. The work here is hard, very time-consuming and exhausting, but every minute and every effort is worth it.’
Goulash Cannon
The popular term ‘goulash cannon’ originally comes from the military sector. The field kitchen was designed so that you could take it anywhere and quickly feed many people with it.
We not only take food with us on the road, but also Bibles, which we distribute. In this way, we want to reach many people with our Goulash Cannon project by not only distributing hot meals or sandwiches to those in need, but also equipping them with the living Word of God, which can change people's lives in a lasting way.
People do not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from God's mouth. Matthew 4:4
Health Care Centres of Excellence
In order to improve medical care for people in Africa, we have developed a concept of small medical centres, each with a medical focus. Here, too, the challenge is to reach many people and at the same time make financing and maintenance possible, as there is no health insurance in Africa. With the right co-operation partners, we are sure that in future we can also help those in need on the African continent.
